Gentlemen. This is what rape culture is like:
Imagine you have a Rolex watch. Nice fancy Rolex, you bought it because you like the way it looks and you wanted to treat yourself. And then you get beaten and mugged and your Rolex is stolen. So you go to the police. Only, instead of investigating the crime, the police want to know why you were wearing a Rolex instead of a regular watch. Have you ever given a Rolex to anyone else? Is it possible you wanted to be mugged? Why didn’t you wear long sleeves to cover up the Rolex if you didn’t want to be mugged?
And then after that, everywhere you go, there are constant jokes about stealing your Rolex. People you don’t even know whistle at your Rolex and make jokes about cutting your hand off to get it. The media doesn’t help either; it portrays people who wear Rolexes as flamboyant assholes who secretly just want someone to come along and take that Rolex off their hands. When damn, all you wanted was to wear a nice watch without getting harassed for it. When you complain that you are starting to feel unsafe, people laugh you off and say that you are too uptight. Never mind you got violently attacked for the crime of wearing a friggin time piece.
Imagining all that? It sucks, doesn’t it.
Now imagine you could never take the Rolex off.
People being angry about ~dem gays~ on Target’s Facebook.
I just want to give my two cents on this and tell you a story.
A couple weeks ago, I was hired at Target. I have a job at Target. Not a big deal right?
It is a big deal because i’m a transman.
It doesn’t take a genius to conclude that it’s hard for me, my brothers, and sisters to get a job. There are legal restraints regarding the job and if you don’t pass, it’s hard to be taken seriously at a job interview.
Right on the application, it asks what your preferred name is. It also asks if there is anything that target should know. I put the fact that I am a transman, expecting not to get a call because usually when you put that down, people will throw out the application. I got TWO interviews.
At the interview, they asked me about it. I told them I am on hormones and they told me that they didn’t care. Not in the sense that they don’t emotionally care, but that it didn’t matter. I was male and that’s all that mattered. They also told me that they give sex same couples benefits in states that do not recognize them as a married couple.
At my job orientation, I was not misgendered once. Even my supervisors who weren’t sure of my gender avoided pronoun use, which I found only happens when you’ve had pronoun training. They gave me a name tag with my preferred name and didn’t ask questions. I felt safe and respected, which is huge for a trans* person.
TLDR: Target is amazing not just for the LGB, but also the T. Shop there for the rest of your life.
Whelp, I’m buying everything from Target.
lol at the person calling it debauchery
Well this is good news

If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet,’ I’m like, ‘You can go fuck yourself.’
a serious fucking problem in society that needs to be stopped immediately
As a heterosexual guy let me just make it clear that not dressing “feminine”, being “overweight” or “too skinny”, having small boobs and most of all wearing glasses and being shy are not turn offs to me. In fact they make you seem a lot more human and I’d be so much more willing to ask you to be my girlfriend.
ok cool but thats not even the point of this comic though??
like we dont care what you or anyone wants from us we just want society and people to stop making everything revolve around our appearance and pleasing straight dudes, telling us what we can and cant do with our bodies and shoving all of these impossible and harmful standards of beauty in our face and then treating us like absolute garbage for not being any of that and gradually destroying our self esteem at an early age and making it seem like we need approval from others or guys to be attracted to us in order to love ourselves and making our physical appearance the end all be all of our existence in general
also you or anyone else telling us how much girlfriend potential we have because of a few traits we may or may not possess is the exact opposite of helping
this was supposed to be a cool word art thing in the shape of the word no but i gave up. much like how i’ve already given up with school.
